Description
The Backstop Recoil Pad for Tikka Rifles is designed to address common issues with factory pads. Tikka rifles are lightweight, which often leads to more pronounced recoil. The factory pad's protruding bottom angle also causes muzzle rise and makes recoil harsher.
The upgraded Backstop Recoil Pad offers an ergonomic fit for better control and reduced muzzle rise. Its patent-pending two-layer structure absorbs vibrations and minimizes shoulder impact, making shooting more comfortable.
We perform a recoil calculation on your gun setup, and custom create a recoil pad with the right support and bounce for your specific rifle. This results in gentler recoil and improved ability to spot your impacts through the scope.
The pad includes a hard plastic protector you slip over the pad for long-term storage so it always performs like the day you got it.
Upgrade your Tikka rifle with the Backstop Recoil Pad for improved comfort, recoil management, and accuracy.
Numbers Don't Lie
The graph on the top is a factory Tikka T3x rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor.
On the bottom is the same rifle in the same cartridge, but this time with the Backstop recoil pad installed.
The force on the shooter's shoulder is dramatically reduced because the pad effectively slows the momentum of the rifle by allowing the tiny crush zones in the pad to cap off the recoil.
This results in reduced flinch for the shooter, and an improved ability to spot your impact through the scope. Put simply, it makes you shoot better.
Your Pad's Protective Case
Included with every Backstop Recoil pad is the patent-pending "throne," a hard plastic protector to keep your recoil pad from losing its bounce during long-term storage.
The factory Tikka recoil pad is designed to be a thick chunk of rubber that frankly isn't very good at soaking up recoil, but it can't be made too soft or it will deform when a gun in stored butt-down for extended periods.
We got around pad deformation by designing the pad to reduce recoil first, and then providing a simple case to make sure your pad is as good in 10 years as on day 1.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you make a Backstop for my specific model of Tikka?
Do you make a Backstop for my specific model of Tikka?
Probably! We have a pad to fit just about any model of Tikka. At the top of the page before you add to cart, enter the details about your Tikka and if you see yours on the list, we have one that'll fit just right.
We also have recoil pads for hundreds of other firearms. Check out the main Backstop Recoil Page to see our other options.
If for some reason you don't see yours, fill out this google form and we’ll send you an email when we have a model available.
Will it change my length of pull?
Will it change my length of pull?
No. The Backstop recoil pad thickness is within 1mm of the thickness of the factor-installed pad.
It could be 1mm thinner or thicker depending on where you measure on the factory pad due to its angled bottom.
Will it make my Tikka heavier?
Will it make my Tikka heavier?
Nope! The Backstop Recoil Pad is actually lighter than the factory Tikka pad. You'll shave off about 1 oz.
We say "about" 1 oz because it depends on the lattice structure your particular rifle needs.
The reason is that we used modern manufacturing to create complex lattice structures inside the pad to maximize air pockets.
Is this made in China?

Would we do that to you? Not a chance. We make your pad in St George, Utah. It's as American as obese children.
This is too expensive

We get it. Not everyone wants to pay for a pad tailored to their recoil. Fortunately, there are other companies making decent options that are at least better than the factory pad.
We've done thousands of shots of testing recoil on our lab-grade recoil testing machine, and we've found the best alternative to the Backstop is Limbsaver. You'll probably need Limbsaver Part Number 10826. That fits many but not all Tikka rifles. It's no Backstop, but it's an improvement at least.
Whichever you choose, we just want you to have a good shooting experience.
