MDT Premier Scope Rings
MDT Premier Scope Rings - 1" / Medium (best for 50mm scopes) is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
This is Jim's go-to scope ring. It's reasonably lightweight, but most importantly, very robust. MDT verifies that these rings are perfectly sized and concentric down to 1.5 MILLIONTH of an inch!
There are cheaper scope rings on the market. We've tried just about all of them to see if it really made a difference whether you get premium rings or just the Amazon stuff, and unfortunately, we had horrible experiences with the cheap rings. This is what Jim is putting on most of his rifle builds these days. If you're spending more than $200 on your scope, get good quality rings. It'll be worth it.
These rings will work on any rifle with a picatinny rail. If your gun doesn't have a pic rail (most do already), then you'll just need to pick up a picatinny rail to attach these to.
HOW TO KNOW WHAT RINGS TO ORDER
- Step 1: Look at the model of your scope. For example: Athlon Helos BTR 4-20x50.
- Step 2: Get the tube size of the scope. You'll need to Google the tube size for the scope in question. It'll be listed in the scope's specs. For this scope, the tube size of the scope is 30mm.
- Step 3: Determine the ring height. The last number in the model name is the objective size of the front glass of your scope. In the example above, the objective size is 50mm. If the objective is smaller than 50, choose a low ring height. If it's 50mm, choose medium. If larger than 50mm, choose high.
- Step 4: Make sure the attachment system is correct. Most scopes have picatinny rails these days and these rings will work perfect for that. If your gun doesn't have a picatinny rail on the top, you'll need to order a picatinny rail on Amazon for your rifle.
- Example: If I have a Leupold Mk 4hd 6-24x50 scope, I would choose a 30mm, medium-height ring. The 30mm comes from the site's scope specs, and I chose medium because of the 50 as the last number in the model name.
